Marty Malloy is a Cleveland comedy treasure. We are lucky to have him and we’re proud he’s ours. But it’s time the rest of the world was introduced to him. It’s actually long overdue. With so very many comics being inspired and influenced by comedy giants both current and past, Marty Malloy is the epitome of originality. I’ve seen him perform several times. He is the only comedian whose jokes I constantly hear other comics relaying to each other. It’s hard to find a local standup comedian that doesn’t have a favorite Marty joke. If you want to know how uniquely witty and devilishly hysterical Marty Malloy is I would go out on a limb and say that if he were to be on a nationally-visible platform of any kind, he would instantly become hugely famous. Anyone who has seen Marty perform will absolutely get this lofty comparison: Marty’s jokes are every bit as quotable as Stephen Wright’s or Mitch Hedberg’s. Those are two of my favorite comedians so I know what it means to compare someone to them. But I believe that 100% and I know for a fact that many other Cleveland comedians feel the exact same way. Because they have told me. If Marty gives you gambling advice, run. But if you’re looking for a human punchline factory packaged as originally as possible, you found it.
